I often paraphrase and quote Jim Rohn saying: “Don’t wish it was easier wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge wish for more wisdom”

When Coaching team members at work I often say: It’s easy to fall into the trap of wanting things to be easy. We all want to be successful, but we also want the path to that success to be as smooth and effortless as possible. However, this way of thinking can ultimately hold us back from achieving our goals. Instead of wishing for things to be easy, we should strive to become better.

When things are difficult, it’s natural to feel frustrated and overwhelmed. It’s tempting to give up or take shortcuts, but these actions will only make the journey harder in the long run. Instead, we should embrace the challenges and use them as opportunities to grow and improve. By working through difficult situations, we build resilience, determination and problem-solving skills that will serve us well in the future.

By focusing on becoming better, we can make things easier for ourselves. When we are equipped with the knowledge, skills and mindset necessary to handle difficult situations, we are better able to navigate them and achieve our goals. For example, if you’re working on a project, you may find that it’s challenging to get started. Instead of giving up or feeling defeated, you can focus on learning more about the project and the tools needed to complete it. By investing time and effort in improving your skills, you’ll be able to tackle the project with more confidence and ease.

It’s important to remember that becoming better is not a one-time thing, it’s a continuous process. There will always be new challenges and obstacles to overcome, but by committing to personal growth, we can make the journey easier and more fulfilling.

In conclusion, instead of wishing for things to be easy, we should aim to become better. By embracing challenges and investing in our personal growth, we can equip ourselves with the skills and mindset necessary to navigate difficult situations and achieve our goals. Remember, it’s not about making the journey easy, it’s about making it worth it.
