The irony of Life

Two Teenage brothers sitting next to each other at the breakfast table. Conversation is scarce and bitty as per usual. The older brother thinking to himself I need to make an effort as his mother has told him many times. The younger one is deadly focused on his phone, hoping for any interruption to save him….

During a long period of silence, the younger brother’s phone suddenly pings. After a small pause, he says, with a confused expression, ‘It’s a text from Mum….’ He then holds the phone up and shows his older brother so he can see it, who then reads aloud ‘What do you want from Life?’

They look at each other for a few moments, slightly bemused and taken aback from the message. But however unusual the message, it certainly does the trick; for the first time in ages, both brothers relax and talk openly with each other what is, after all, a key question. Both embark on one of the most interesting and fruitful conversations they have had before as teenage brothers talking about career aspirations as well as ambitions and life in general!

Fifteen minutes into an amazing conversation, the phone pings again — its another text from Mum: Both brothers now looking at the message at the same time: “Apologies, meant to say, What do you want from Lidl?’
